Just pickin' apples!
McDannell's orchards in Adams County were full of beautiful colors this year with a variety of apples grown like Pink Lady, Aztec Fuji, Mutsu/Crispin, Cameo, Evercrisp, Ida Reds, Nittany, Crimson Crisp, Jonagolds, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Empire just to name a few. I guess that's why they call Adams County 'Apple Country'! Did you know we have fruit charts listing all the apple varieties and harvest information?
The fields were full during the Apple Harvest
We enjoy having those that attend the Apple Harvest each year park in the fields nearby. Enjoy some drone pictures of the fields and Apple Harvest festival grounds.

In addition to fresh ruits and vegetables, did you know we have a variety of goodies like ice cream sandwiches, apple fry pies, dried apple slices, Marc's Bread, cheese, jelly, honey, flowers, and other season offerings like corn stalks, pumpkins, fall decor?

Sasquatch sightings
When you drive by McDannell's Fruit Farm & Market, be on the lookout for Sasquatch aka Bigfoot! From a young age, Todd McDannell has always liked Bigfoot so he decided to make his own and you never know where the Bigfoot family will appear, what they will be wearing or what they will be doing. And, don't forget to pick up your Bigfoot t-shirts or Sasquatch sweatshirts at the farm market store!

Rain Makes Corn
July 24, 2021 - Did someone mention corn-on-the-cob? You can find white, yellow and bicolor sweet corn at our family-owned farm market when in season. You'll love the plump ears with sweet and tender kernels.
Donut Peaches
July 23, 2021 - Donut peaches are named for their shape, but are also extra-sweet like donuts. Their tender skins have little to no fuzz, so there's no need to peel them unless you want to. The pit pops out easily with a finger poke and gentle pull. Donut peaches are easy to polish off in a few drippy, delightful bites.

The great corn challenge of 2020!
The weather proposed many challenges as we planted our early corn crop this year.
April 7, 2020 - We planted our first patch and covered it with plastic the next day.
May 1, 2020 - We removed the cover due to heat or it would’ve burnt and killed the corn.
May 9 & 10, 2020 - We had freezing temps and set up irrigation to try and save the corn.
Mid June - Since there was no rain we had to apply 3 different waterings
July 6, 2020 - We were happy to start pulling our first planting!
